Fondazione Promozione Acciaio is a foundation created in January 2005 with the objective of developing at the users’ market the consumption of steel in construction and infrastructure.
The Foundation was established by the major Italian and European steel producers and the main reality of the industry and brings together a network of companies ranging from steel producers, transformers, service centers, distributors, steel builders.
The Foundation's action plan includes a series of cultural initiatives and projects dedicated to the teaching of academics and professionals, ranging from the organization of conferences and training courses, implementation of various publishing initiatives (such as the architectural review and design manuals), the updating of a rich web portal (www.promozioneacciaio.it) to support the users' market.
Within Fondazione Promozione Acciaio are operational working groups made up of skilled designers and academics who offer their advice to the Foundation. The most important are the Seismic Commission for Steel Construction, the Committee on Safety of steel buildings in case of fire, touching two priority themes for the steel construction: the efficiency of steel in seismic and safety in front of the fire. Recently established the Commission on Sustainability and Regulations Group.
The committees have a prominent role in teaching and promotion of the steel, above all by making the creation of monographs and the organization of skilled technical design courses.
