This presentation, by delegates from the Restoration Directorate, Project Design and Implementation Department within the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs, Malta, is designed to provide an overview of the historical significance and importance of the military architecture of the Maltese islands and the Maltese government’s current efforts, being undertaken with the assistance of the European Union, to restore and rehabilitate the most important examples of this rich heritage. The presentation will focus on both the historical and architectural aspects of the fortification heritage and the technicalities of restoration projects.
